Every one shall sit in safety under his own vine and figtree, and there shall be none to make him afraid. For happily the Government of the United States gives to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance, requires only that they who live under its protection should demean themselves as good citizens, in giving it on all occasions their effectual support.
(This version of George Washington is an amalgamation of Ian Kahn's depiction of our most esteemed first President in the TV show Turn: Washington's Spies, with enough real history in there to make it reasonable. I am obviously not George Washington or Ian Kahn. Mun can be reached on PLURK.)
